This setting has a thousand stories, a microcosm of actions where we all matter...

 Appendix 2 - Dugo Jan/Jannie modaal

Deze appendix zal voor elk evenement toegevoegd worden aan het figurantenboek. Het doel van deze appendix is de figuranten ondersteunen door de standaard Dugo te beschrijven.

  • Almost all Dugo wear a Salita: The ritualistic melee weapon all Dugo carry which serves as an extension of their soul and personality. For all Dugo this is an almost sacred and highly personal object that is seen as a part of their body. So touching or grabbing someone’s salita is legally speaking a form of physical assault in Dugo law.
Not having a Salita means you never served in the military to acquire the Right of Bearing.
  • Dugo are often proficient in Melee and Willpower (Wilskracht)
  • Dugo usually have three names. The first is your Personal (mind) name for friends. The second is your Blood (body) name, which denotes what larger family or House you belong to. The third is your Tree (soul) name which denotes your local family. Ichitose Catambay Huawan identifies a person called Ichitose Huawan as a member of the Catambay House.
  • Those that have only two names are (as good as) pure-blooded House members.
  • Dugo families are HUGE. Even with matching Blood- and Tree-names you might not know the other person, though we encourage that you do.
  • Unless you are close to someone, use their Tree-name to address them
  • Names are a mix of [OC] Malay, Chinese, Tagalog and Thai. Japanese is reserved for the Imperial Dagita family as a private language, though personal names are commonly Japanese among the Sibilyan and Asul.
  • Dugo come in two varieties politically speaking: The old-school that adhere to the Emperor (And use their Salita on worthy foe, train with it, and are generally more martial) and the new-school Senate-minded (who wear their Salita more as a function and do not actively use it, though they may train with it.)
  • Before important events or decisions, a Dugo may be seen taking roughly ten minutes to meditate, which signifies the Kapayapaan - a ritual where a Dugo seperates the ego from the need of all Dugo. This can be done in silence, prayer, physical routine…
  • A Dugo may duel with another Dugo on several levels, but these are rare. Short-hands are underscored.
  • The Sayaw is a ritual fight more akin to dancing in which the salita never touches the opponent. It is about flow and balance between two people. The less contact, the higher their skill.
  • The Magaway is a more physical test to match brains and brawns with the flats of the blade and restraint. Great for seeing if someone is worthy. Can be used to decide arguments and the like.
  • The Lakas, which is a bloodshed ritual in which the fight does not stop until a predetermined amount of harm is done to one of the contestants. Serious challenges that can even end in death. This is used to settle matters of Honour with a capital H.
  • Asul are in most cases always the higher one. (For sibliyan, soldiers) (Not for Asul?) In case of Asul vs. Asul, those of higher nobility or seniority are referred to with the -Datu suffix. “Understood, Catambay-Datu”.
  • A soldier always salutes an Asul or Militar of higher rank.[ac][ad][ae][af][ag][ah][ai]
You do this by lightly pounding your right arm with the thumb directed to your heart. At the same time, your right leg comes up, then down to stomp the ground, and you hold this salute until you are noticed or saluted back.
  • Dugo generally pride themselves on their metallurgical prowess, as the Empire has yielded extremely durable and valuable alloys in their research. Dugo favour armour whereas shield generators are frowned upon, but not illegal.
  • Dugo weapons are generally railgun based, with magnetic acceleration and kinetic storage tabs being the prime technologies driving their ballistics

Asul

  • For an Asul your extended family is of the greatest importance. This includes brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, and grandparents.
  • The extended family honor determines your standing towards other extended families.
  • Asul, as all dugo, do 1 thing and 1 thing well. Noblesse oblige
  • Asul are responsible for tax collection, law making & enforcement, and public service, within their shoen (fiefs/domain).
  • The Inabayan are your army that supports you in those tasks.
  • If you do not want play about marriage and children, write a spouse and children.
  • Protip: read the part about tea and politics

"If possible as an Asul please wear Victorian clothing. If none are availible you are allowed to wear kimono, yukata and hakama. Extra points if you IC use the excuse that you wanted to be prepared for a tea ceremony, because it is deemed weird to wear celebratory clothing when not celebrating. This excuse can only be used by figuranten and is explicitely created to OC enable our figuranten to more easily play Asul."

Sibliyan

  • Sibilyan are practically never poor, as they rarely spend and tend to work a lot. If Dugo spend, they hire specialists to broker for the best quality.
  • Families often tie themselves to other families that specialise in things, and often employ Style Coaches to design their living space, attire and display their status.
  • Sibilyan have regular hours in their jobs that their are generally great at. Dugo Society is a society of specialists helping each other.
  • Dugo are often Multi-theïstic (believing in Mair, and the Maykapal, and spirits, and ancestors, etc), though Dugo with no religion are just as common.

Honourable Soldier

As a Soldier of one of five (of the total six) military Contingents you either spend four years of (almost mandatory) military service and quit, or become a career soldier. The sixth Contingent is the Karangalan, which can only be committed by being stripped of Honour. Military families are common and some 95 percent of all Dugo have entered military service at some point in their life - usually around the age of 17.

The Contingents are:

  • Himwid: Both the space and airforce of the Dugo, as they are the only faction with ships that can effortlessly transition between atmospheric and vacuum flight.
  • Tubig: Naval forces of the Dugo, primarily deployed, trained and maintained on Kaito.
  • Sonug: The engineering and support troops, these are the people that build bridges, bunkers, weapons and transports. Anything “made” usually comes from the Sonug as they are attached to other units. They handle logistics, medical and all such factors of military life.
  • Lupa: The ground forces of the Dugo. By far the biggest of them all.
  • Kaluluwa: Royal Guard and Special Forces which can not be freely joined. It works on invitation and prestige. They are by far the best the Dugo have to offer, with one soldier being capable of taking out practically an Anim-sized fighting force on their own.

Karangalan

  • You are a soldier who due to a severe crime, has been stripped of Honour and sentenced to serve in the Karangalan penitentiary military institution. You will do so until you restore your Honour with the Six Sacred Steps or by dying in service of Dugo Principles to be post-humously restored. The latter is the norm.
  • As a honourless person you will be looked down upon by most Dugo, in most cases you are not seen as anything more than a tool. The upside to this is that you can hardly do more wrong, because no one expects anything from you. Nobody blames the hammer for landing on the foot.
  • You are almost incapable of ignoring orders.
  • Also basically a walking blood-bag because any Dugo blood is better than outsider blood for an Asul in trouble.

KP2 Officer

An officer of the KP2 agency, which track Honour and is responsible for the legal Restoration of Honour for Karangalan, come to speak to the local KP2 auditors within the Anim. They might want to know how the Karangalan are progressing, or bringing in a fresh convict.
